The seminar was held in L’viv

The concluding seminar “Alternative means of public dispute resolution and the practice of its application” was held in L’viv on 19th of May. The purpose of the seminar was to introduce the results of practical application of alternative means of public dispute resolution.

The representatives of public administration, local self-government, judiciary, non-governmental organizations from more than 14 regions of Ukraine actively participated in seminar. Different important issues concerning the possibility of alternative means practical application in the administrative procedure were raised during the discussion. It was summarized that alternative means of public dispute resolution is an effective way to solve dispute between citizen and public administration, it helps to make a creative decision that is profitable for both sides of the conflict. Moreover, the application of it results the reducing of the burden on the judiciary.

Unfortunately, current legislative base doesn’t expedite the effective application of the alternative means of public dispute solving. The event was conducted by Centre for the Research on Local Self-Governance with the support of International Renaissance Foundation within the project “Furtherance of effective solving of disputes between citizens and authorities”.
