Vasil Kisil & Partners Announces a Series of Workshops “Mediation in Employment and Labour Law and Reasons Behind It”

In October 2013, Vasil Kisil & Partners law firm arranges a series of workshops: “Mediation in Employment and Labour Law and Reasons Behind It”. These workshops are organized in the framework of the 2013 Muskie Mentor/Advisor Exchange (MAX) under the Edmund Muskie Fellowship program (US EEOC New York District Office) aimed to support continued professional relationships between Muskie alumni and their American host advisors, supervisors, professors, and mentors.

The workshop will cover mediation as an effective method of dispute resolution in labour and employment law and will discuss:
Mediation in Ukraine: current situation and development prospects;
The benefits of mediation overall both to common people and commercial world, employees and employers;
Efficiency of mediation in employment law;
Mediation inside the firms/companies in case of dispute between employees;
Possibility of conduction mediation in the court;
Qualifications of mediators and how to choose a mediator;
Tools of mediation, different styles of conducting mediation;
Methods of making mediation a trustful institute for its parties;
How to secure resolution made through mediation;
Mock mediation.

The participants will learn how to reach settlement by mediation, what style of mediation suits them best and receive practical mediation skills through taking part in mock mediation.

Who should attend: in-house lawyers and other representatives of legal departments, lawyers in the sphere of labour and employment law, Human Resource Directors, and HR managers.

About the speakers:

Deborah Reik has been employed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission for more years than she cares to admit. She was an Appellate Attorney at the EEOC in Washington D.C., a trial attorney in the EEOC New York District Office, and since 1998, a mediator in the Alternative Dispute Resolution Unit in the New York District Office. In her capacity as a mediator, Ms. Reik estimates that she has mediated more than 2,000 cases. Ms. Reik has won several awards as a mediator, including the EEOC Sustained Performance Award in 2011, New York Federal Executive Board Alternative Dispute Resolution Award in 2005, the Congressional Certificate of Achievement, the Director’s Award in 2003, and the Special Achievement Award in 2007. She is a certified mediator through the NYU Employment Law and Mediator Skills Training in 2001.

Oksana Voynarovska VKP's Partner, Head of Labour and Employment, has been repeatedly recognized by international and domestic law reviews as the best Ukrainian expert on labour and employment law. For the last six years (2007-2013) Ukrainian Law Firms. A Handbook for Foreign Clients has been naming Mrs Voynarovska Ukraine's No. 1 Labour and Employment Law Practitioner. Oksana Voynarovska is a mediator accredited by the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR), London, UK.

Galyna Yeromenko, PhD. Manager and Trainer at the Ukrainian Mediation Center (kmbs). Galyna is accredited by CEDR (UK) as a mediator in accordance with international standards. Since 2008 – Manager of Ukrainian Mediation Center under Kyiv-Mohylyanska Business School. In April 2012 Galyna was appointed Chairman of the Commission for Mediation and Advisor to the President of ICC. Also she is a senior researcher of the Institute of State and Law after V.M. Koretsky of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
