Over the past two months UMC conducted several major international events or the purpose of development of mediation in Ukraine.

In September 2012 UMC participated in the Conference on Mediation in Odessa. For the first time guests-mediators from 8 countries including UK, USA and Israel greeted Ukraine. For three days mediators shared experiences with practical application of mediation in practical laboratories. UMC Director Galyna Yeromenko together with colleagues from Minsk and Odessa moderated work on sections of promoting mediation and business mediation.

Also in September 2012 there was organized a workshop with one of the leading UK and European mediators who is in the top 10 UK mediators - Bill Marsh (founder and director of Conflict Management International (CMI). This event brought together representatives not only from Ukraine, but also participants from Belarus and Kazakhstan.

Besides that, there was arranged a meeting of Ukrainian lawyers with Bill Marsh to discuss the important role of lawyers for the introduction of mediation in Ukraine, and the possibility that mediation provides for the legal community in the world and in Ukraine.

Also there was organized a roundtable on mediation in insurance business by UMC with ICC-Ukraine and Ukrainian Insurance Federation. The participants along with Bill Marsh discussed the possibility of mediation in the insurance sector of Ukraine.

In October 2012 the UMC representatives together with International Finance Corporation (World Bank) conducted a three day workshop in Kyrgyzstan for thirty Kyrgyz and Tajik specialists in corporate governance, business owners, executives and consultants.
