On the Ukrainian Mediation Center initiative a joint three-month project with the Dnipro Kyiv Court took place.

The opportunities and reasonability of the implementation of mediation into Ukrainian legal system were being researched during the project. As well, the procedures of the engagement of the participants of court cases into mediation were being worked out.

The mediation procedures were being handled by the Ukrainian Mediation Center alumni, taking part in the project as volunteers. Along with their assistants the mediators took part on the joint court duties during which the assistants played a role of mediation initiator in all possible situations. General conclusion of the Ukrainian Mediation Center and the court representatives is the following – mediation is important, its implementation as a part of Ukrainian legal procedure makes real sense. It is desirable that the mediation law is passed which would facilitate quicker gain of trust to this unique way of case decision.
