About the Center

Ukrainian Mediation Center under Kyiv-Mohylyanska Business School (hereinafter UMC) was established in January 2008. In cooperation with IFC (World Bank Group) 36 mediators were trained to specialize in commercial disputes, 9 mediators – in internal organization conflicts and disputes, and 5 mediators – for mediation of family conflicts and disputes. Some mediators were accredited in Great Britain in accordance with CEDR standards.

UMC trainers - who were trained during train the trainer program carried out by CEDR specialists (Great Britain) and specialists from Saint Tomas University (Minnesota, USA) – carry out programs aimed at developing basic mediation skills and mediation competences of managers.  Specifically, the immense usefulness of UMC trainings is stressed in gratitude letters received  from project managers of UN Project “Consumers’ Community and Public Associations”, American Association of Attorneys (Rule of Law Initiative), as well as from participants of corporate and open training sessions.

Over the period of September 2008 through June 2009, a pilot project related to the calculation of conflicts’ value was successfully implemented at one of the leading Ukrainian companies. As planned, the next stage of cooperation will be the discussion related to the development of conflict management system, which will make it possible to optimize conflict caused company losses.

UMC graduates successfully conduct independent mediations and use specific mediation skills during negotiations and when dealing with company management issues.

UMC  concluded partnership agreements with leading Ukrainian law firms, non-government organizations, and regional partners. Together we are stronger.

We have ambitious plans on the development of mediation in Ukraine. Every day brings us the evidence of the fact that Ukraine and Ukrainian people need mediation.

It will be our pleasure to pursue our goal.

We encourage you to cooperation and in advance are grateful for your assistance!
